Ignition 8.3

Ask the plant what happened.

One question, in plain language. The answer draws on the alarm journal, audit log, tag history and trends, and on the functional descriptions and drawings for the equipment behind them. One timeline, in the plant’s own timezone.

Talk With SCADA running inside Ignition: a question box headed “What happened?” with ready-made questions such as “What happened in the last hour?” and “Did anyone change a setpoint this shift?”.

What it reads

Plant data and plant documents, one timeline.

The causal story is almost always in the interleaving: an operator write, then a state change, then the alarm.

Built for a control system

It never alters system state.

It only reads

Nothing in the plant changes because someone asked a question. It cannot set a value, acknowledge an alarm or change configuration, and the access it is given does not allow it to.

Every question has a limit

Questions are answered through a fixed set of prepared lookups, not open access to your data. Each one runs with a time limit and a ceiling on how much it may return, so asking can never load the system.
